Yahoo! Instant Search is on !

Yahoo! Releases Instant Search, which is much like Google Suggest. Just that it shows up one result at a time with title and description which looks more like a search result rather than normal drop down suggetions.

Pixsy - All new Image Search (AJAX)

Pixsy is indeed a upgraded image search. Apart from the fact that it does not use any third party service of Google or Yahoo! search like backbase , it is a powerful system of its own.

Image search is the fastest growing vertical search category on the Internet today. To address the problem of finding the growing amount of visual material available online, Pixsy has developed a proprietary visual search engine that delivers images based on the context surrounding those images. To find that context, our spider aggregates RSS feeds and extracts photos and video thumbnail images from those feeds and – in most cases – from the stories, articles, blogs, reviews and stores linked from those feeds. Our spider then indexes and organizes those images into categories, and makes them searchable for users.

Backbase : AJAX powered Y! Search

http://img231.imageshack.us/img231/1010/backbaselogo206vr.pngBackbase, a website that makes rich AJAX applications has enabled AJAX in Y! Search or say it has built an AJAX Search powered by Y! Search ;) .

The Backbase Presentation Client (BPC) is an AJAX engine based entirely on AJAX technology, and differentiates itself via a generic User Interface declaration language (BXML). BXML is a XML application that also includes many XSLT and XPath functions. BXML is interpreted by the AJAX engine, and translated to native DOM commands in the browser. The Backbase AJAX Engine is developed in JavaScript, and it works in Internet Explorer, Mozilla, Firefox and soon also in Opera and Safari. It does not require any type of plug-in, which differentiates Backbase from other RIA vendors.

Google PageRank Updates Feb 05

This I think was the longest wait for PageRank update. Jagger, Big Daddy … all was confusing the webmasters from last few months. I noticed updates on few datacenters … 216.239.53.104 , 66.102.7.99, 66.102.7.147, 66.102.7.105 … This ofcourse will be a great news for the webmasters.

I have collected a few tools to check pagerank in various ways, various data centers. Please do note that different tools listed use different datacenters so the result may vary and I suggest you check once in google toolbar . It is normal that it shows different pagerank in different datacenters, In the past it’s usually lasted a few days and then they all gave out the same PR.

Taking the Web with You - Google Mobile Personailzed Homepage

Google, with companies lauching new products every other day, announced today its entry into the mobile phone search market, Google Mobile Personalized Home. This cell phone friendly version of Google’s popular search engine allows users to preview Gmail, read news headlines, get weather forecasts, stock quotes and movie show times, and choose from a variety of RSS and ATOM feeds. According to the Google Blog, the service offers your Google home page to go. I think I’ll give it a try. The blog post includes a link to let them know we like it. No signs of advertisements yet, but I’m sure they aren’t far behind.

We’ve designed a way for you to view the things that you really care about, from your Gmail inbox to news headlines, weather, stock quotes, and feeds (Atom or RSS). The interface is optimized for small screens, and we’ve arranged things so you don’t have to click on a bunch of links to locate what you’re after -– your personalized content appears on top, right where it should be.

Google Announces Google Video Store

The latest post on the Google Blog let’s us know that the Google Video Store is now open. You can buy episodes of Survivor, MacGyver, CSI, The Twilight Zone, Star Trek DS9, Voyager, and others. You’ll also be able to purchase NBA games 24-hours after the game.
Downloads aren’t limited to just desktop environments. Google will allow you to download videos to your Apple iPod (video of course) or Sony PSP.

Till now, Google Video has been about watching videos and clips online, which is really convenient for videos like this. But wouldn’t it be awesome to watch that episode of CSI that you missed when even your trusty DVR failed you? This is one reason we’ve launched the Google Video store, where you can rent or buy from such well-known media partners as CBS, the NBA, The Charlie Rose Show, and SONY BMG.
