E-Messenger Launches eBuddy.com, Meebo Alert ?
Meebo, which was started around late last year was a huge hit in the browser chat war. The main competitor is
E-messenger.net. Which is now relaunched as Ebuddy.com. Both services support MSN, AIM and Yahoo, but Meebo also supports Jabber/GTalk which as considered as a main weapon ;) . Techcrunch reportsThe Netherlands based company has also secured a round of funding from an as yet undisclosed, but top tier, VC firm.
The new eBuddy is relaunched with lots of new features including MSN new and Yahoo! Beta messenger with the previously available ones. Another great feature that eBuddy offers is the mobile messaging through your MSN, Yahoo! or AIM ID. This can be accessed in two forms , Mobile version for xHTML or WAP 2.0 enabled browser on your device or WAP version if your browser has an earlier version of WAP (1.1 or higher). For the support there is a very interactive forum

Our patent pending technology enables millions of unique users every month to chat over the web and mobile phones. Proprietary and Ajax technology are used for best user experience. Meebo and e-messenger are really great services but most of the schools and universities have banned them , is there any other website available for these ?
June 22nd, 2006 at 2:10 pm

is the block on IP or on URL… ?
June 22nd, 2006 at 3:32 pm
I don’t know exactly . May be they have banned through proxy . In internet explorer it says “Cannot find the server” and on Firefox it says “Server not found” .

In my opinion Meebo is better than ebuddy because in meebo you have all the chatting window in one browser window only while in ebuddy there are different windows.
June 23rd, 2006 at 1:26 am
Yes indeed, Meebo is far better with the features it offers.
Infact e-Messenger caught up just now, it should have offered these long ago if we look at its age.
June 23rd, 2006 at 3:04 pm
you can make all the chatting windows in one browser windowï¼› go to “setting” -”General”-choose “conversation in a new tab”, then that’s it.

hey guys - i noticed the comment above about meebo being blocked at a bunch of schools. we noticed this too, but also noticed a lot of users were relying on third party proxies to get around the blocks. that’s not very safe as proxies are ripe for phishing attacks, conversation sniffing, etc. as a result, we put out a little program (the meebo repeater) so that users can set up their own (safe) port forwarder at home. the link is here http://blog.meebo.com/?page_id=140. hope this helps! seth

[...] Kool IM (http://www.koolim.com/). is an all new web based instant messaging service. Though in Alpha stage it supports 6 instant messaging services all together - AIM, MSN, Yahoo!, Google Talk, ICQ and apart from all that jabber. AJAX is used in the application very well and Kool IM hardly have any known problem. It has a registration option which enable to take advantage of saving and managing user’s network accounts and more. Meebo and e-messenger were the two most popular web based IM services which are ruling from last few months, Kool IM is a very hard contender for them as it also supports ICQ, which neither meebo nor e-messenger does. Meebo and e-messenger in recent months have developed a new problem of banishment in some schools and colleges by authorities in order stop children from using Instant messaging. Well, Kool IM can be a great solution for them ;) . A support forum and a blog is also available. As per what I checked, Kool IM is supported on Internet Explorer 6, Firefox 1.5.0.4 and Opera 9.0 . Instant Messaging directly out of the browser using AJAX based technology. Consumers and Business users alive will have the capabilities to hold real-time conversations with friends and co-workers. KoolIM is a generic IM solution, the initial version will support access to 12 IM networks and 4 Content Channels. You can bookmark this on del.icio.us, Digg, Y! MyWeb 2.0, Netvouz, Furl, Simpy or Spurl. [...]

I strongly recommend the imhaha.com website, all the messages are encrypted with https so network administrator will not be able to watch what you are chatting. And because of that, my school does not block it so far.

Today I have discovered that my old web based msn has been blocked. Pretty much everything has been blocked and its really driving me nuts. Is there any way to get into the unblocking thing or is there a way I can make a web based msn to stop this from happening? If not is there a site which isnt meebo/ebuddy?
November 3rd, 2006 at 7:12 pm
My school has apparently blocked every website here, really. I’ve tried, and unfortunatly they’ve got tags banned. So anything with “instant messasing” as a tag has been banned. Does anyone know a way around this? I need to be on the admin to change the tags and of course the school won’t let you go onto the admin.
I’d prefer if you could e-mail me with a response, please and thanks.

ok look you can do all that, but if your work/school didnt block out things that you cant install, unlike mine, heres what you do, you go to http://www.hopster.com download that install it, download messenger, and go to preferences in hopster and enable msn messenger, then you just go from there it should work..have a good one
