Writely - Ajax word Solution, The Web Word Processor

People take Ajax to the extreme and I think I can say that here , Writely is an word processor which allows tagging of documentsand set reader permissions . It is built with the core feature set with an ajax UI . and addd some cool web 2.0 stuffs. Documents can also be tagged for easy searches later. The ability to create PDFs directly from writely is a really useful tool that you cannot do with Word. During the beta period, there is no limit on total storage space. To prevent abuse, there are (generous) limits on an individual document: the document itself can be up to 500K in length; each embedded image can be up to 2 megabytes; each document can be shared with up to 50 people.

  • Share documents instantly & collaborate real-time.
Pick exactly who can access your documents.
  • Edit your documents from anywhere.
Nothing to download — your browser is all you need.
  • Store your documents securely online.
Offsite storage plus data backup every 10 seconds.
  • Easy to use.
Clean, uncluttered screens with a familiar, desktop feel.

Internet Explorer pays more Firefox users ignore online ads

Internet Explorer users are at least four times as likely to click on Web ads than Firefox users, a German advertising technology company said last week. :(

David Hallowell, a Mozilla contributor, said this trend may have emerged because nontechnical Web surfers, who tend to be IE users, are more likely to click on pop-up ads by mistake, because they think the ad is a system dialog box.

I totally agree with that statement lol, only fools use IE ^_^.
Its really true , remember when the old days we used to surf and used to click on everything we get ? Even now many people click the ads in search engines which they misunderstand for search results. And ofcourse, the more knowledge about the tech side lesser will be the clicks on Ads. Still I think there will be enough newbie’s to click as time goes :p. Ah I just remembered a quote which is a bit similar.

“Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better idiot-proof programs, and the Universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the Universe is winning.” - Rich Cook.

Meebo Ajax Web Messenger : AIM, ICQ, MSN, Yahoo! Messenger

Meebo is an Web-based instant messaging application that is simply superb. Meant for using as a web messenger and it surely does work great. Meebo allows you to log onto AOL, ICQ, Yahoo! Messenger, MSN Messenger, Jabber, eliminating the need for an instant-messaging client on the user’s computer.
Meebo was started by three young entrepreneurs who placed an emphasis on user-feedback in determining the direction of their business. Meebo launched a private release on September 4, 2005, and it was publicly released on September 14, 2005 and has had many major revisions since. It uses ajax and is another great example for Web 2.0. Simply superb and very fast interface.

It currently supports Internet Explorer 5.0+, FireFox, Safari, Slimbrowser, K-Meleon, and Camino. Although still in its early stages, the goal of the project is to combine the features of Trillian with the availability of AIM Express. Meebo includes the ability to sign on invisibly and to connect to multiple services.

If your Meebo is blocked at your school / office / workplace, try this link http://blog.meebo.com/?page_id=140 .

Meebo is a web based IM that lets you log into your IM networks from any computer with a browser and internet connection with no firewall issues. It employs technologies (like AJAX) to make it act more like a desktop application, which dramatically improves usability. Many users enjoy the benefits of a native DHTML application, as it does not consume as many system resources as a Java applet (such as ICQ2Go or Yahoo Web Messenger).

Some users are also experimenting with setting meebo as their Active Desktop page to use meebo like a native Windows application for their instant-messaging purposes.
