Writely - Ajax word Solution, The Web Word Processor
People take Ajax to the extreme and I think I can say that here , Writely is an word processor which allows tagging of documentsand set reader permissions . It is built with the core feature set with an ajax UI . and addd some cool web 2.0 stuffs. Documents can also be tagged for easy searches later. The ability to create PDFs directly from writely is a really useful tool that you cannot do with Word. During the beta period, there is no limit on total storage space. To prevent abuse, there are (generous) limits on an individual document: the document itself can be up to 500K in length; each embedded image can be up to 2 megabytes; each document can be shared with up to 50 people.
- Share documents instantly & collaborate real-time.
Pick exactly who can access your documents. - Edit your documents from anywhere.
Nothing to download — your browser is all you need. - Store your documents securely online.
Offsite storage plus data backup every 10 seconds. - Easy to use.
Clean, uncluttered screens with a familiar, desktop feel.

[...] Thumbstacks is another “desktop tool” like Web 2.0 application to create presenations in seconds. The popular Word processing application Writely is another great example for this category. As it is in Alpha stage, Thumbstacks offers only few slides, but it can be cusomized well enough through common text editor tools like, Bold, Italics, Alignment, List, Indent, Background and & colouring. have a look at an presentation by thumbstacks, here. Apart from that now you can use your flickr images on the presentations. The Thumbstacks presentation builder is well equiped with AJAX goodness. With Thumbstacks.com, you can make presentations - like slideshows, or outlines - right in your web browser. [...] New services like Jot Live and Meebo are built with a style of data transmission that is neither traditional nor Ajax. Their brand of low-latency data transfer to the browser is unique, and it is becoming ever-more common. Lacking a better term, I’ve taken to calling this style of event-driven, server-push data streaming “Cometâ€Â. It doesn’t stand for anything, and I’m not sure that it should. There is much confusion about how these techniques work, and so using pre-existing definitions and names is as likely to get as much wrong as it would get right. [...]
